Construction and demolition (C&D) activities generate enormous quantities of solid waste. The U.S. EPA estimates that 136 million tons of (C&D) debris was generated in 1996 alone.
Recently, there has been a widespread movement to make all aspects of our culture more “green”.
SITECON has always recognized the importance of the Green movement, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and Recover. Our commitment to protecting and preserving our environment is paramount.
We are proud members of the United States Green Building Council (USGBC), which is the national organization dedicated to green building and its' subsidiary the local Rhode Island chapter of the USGBC. Both organizations keep us current on all local green building events and activities on the national and local level.
The SITECON team has certified staff with vast experience working within the Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEEDs) program. LEED is an internationally recognized green building certification system, which provides confirmation that a building was designed with a specific set of factors in mind and has the most positive impact on the surrounding environment. This program is applicable in both residential and commercial settings.
As part our staff, SITECON has a LEED Accredited Professional (AP), a designation that is neither easily obtained nor widespread amongst environmental remediation contractors. This credential signifies an advanced depth of knowledge in green building practices, as well as a specialized knowledge of the LEED rating system.
